Query: How to treat ear infections and avoid them in future would be most use to me right now! Reply: This is one of those situations where only a qualified professional, after taking a detailed case history, could guide you.
What do I mean by 'under stress'? Perhaps too much work, worrying, pressure, etc. Or not enough fun, enjoyment, 'good things going on' in your life, etc. The result is that the immune system gets 'run down' and we get symptoms in our weakest area.
Imagine a chain, made up of all the body's systems - respiratory, circulatory, digestive, skin, organs, etc. There seems to be a tendency for one of these to be less strong than others and it is a personal thing which one it is.
The answer? First get professional guidance. Depending on your preferences this may include seeking a medical diagnosis - and if it is a persistent or long-term symptom, I would certainly recommend this to begin with. Then engage in whatever treatment programme is suggested.
Finally begin a programme to ensure you are less likely to succumb to the symptom again - by reducing stress, building up your immune/defense system. One other thing, it's useful to see all symptoms as messages - a message that something is not as it should be in your mind-body - and then to begin considering what assistance the mind-body needs from you to be able to function even more effectively.
